Statement from Environmental Voter Project Founder Nathaniel Stinnett on President Trump's Reported Decision To Pull The United States Out of the Paris Climate Accord
If, as expected, President Trump pulls America out of the Paris Climate Accord, he is waking the sleeping lion that is the large block of environmental voters who do not consistently get to the polls. There is no question that this is going to fire them up. Getting out of Paris isn't just bad policy, it's bad politics. There are over 15 million already registered environmentalists who didn't vote in the 2014 midterms - and this is just the kind of monumental, disastrous decision that could get them to flood to the polls in 2018.
The Environmental Voter Project is a non-partisan, non-profit organization that aims to significantly increase the number of environmentalists who vote in every election. In 2016, EVP successfully identified non-voting environmentalists with a 89% degree of accuracy and increased environmental voter turnout by over 12%.
